Our Social Responsibility

We take our children’s hands and gently teach them the values of compassion and respect through each of the outreach initiatives that we are involved in.

Bizweni Centre
Our Grade 6 children visit the centre each week. They develop deep and meaningful relationships with the children while learning lifelong attributes of acceptance, compassion and empathy. The Bizweni pupils have come to count on our Friday visits and fondly refer to our Applewood kids as “ons Appeltjies” / “our little Apples”.

Every year, on Mandela Day, the school becomes a buzzing hub of culinary activity as all the different phases work together to cut, chop, dice and slice vegetables to prepare soup and sandwiches which are donated to Siphila Sonke, an NPO aimed at supporting and improving the quality of life of desperately poor families in the informal settlement.

As Christmas approaches, our children also support the Christmas Shoebox project run by Siphila Sonke. The Christmas Shoebox initiative aims to provide one age-appropriate Christmas shoebox sized gift per disadvantaged child.
